How Hypnotherapy Helps

Whether you are seeking to overcome anxiety, panic, stress, depression or boost confidence and improve performance then hypnotherapy can help.

Hypnotherapy is highly effective in treating a wide range of physical and emotional issues. It is particularly useful for overcoming panic, anxiety, phobias, trauma and depression.

Hypnotherapy is one of the few effective treatments for unwanted behaviours like stammering, sleepwalking, bedwetting or nail-biting.  It is well known for it’s effectiveness in weight loss, smoking cessation and helping pregnant mothers to birth calmly.

Hypnotherapy greatly helps conditions in the body that are affected by mental or emotional stress.  Intense emotional experiences and repressed emotions can lead to physical symptoms.  These conditions are referred to as psychosomatic conditions, for example irritable bowel syndrome, headaches, blood pressure and psoriasis.

Hypnotherapy can help people break free from strong emotional or past psychological experiences including physical, mental and emotional abuse, anger, anxiety, depression, grief, guilt and trauma.

Hypnotherapy is also well used in the area of sports performance, enhancing motivation, increasing confidence and boosting self-esteem.

Hypnotherapy is also useful in providing general health and well being benefits that relaxation promotes, for example more emotional balance, greater awareness of the present, more clarity, better decision making, enhanced creativity and greater ability to rest, relax and sleep deeply.

“The greatest discovery of my generation is that a human being can alter his life by altering his attitudes.” – William James

How Hypnosis Works

Hypnosis is an extremely effective way of creating change in a relatively short period of time.  It is not acutally in the least bit mysterious or at all controlling like you may have seen on television.  Modern functional MRI scanning and PET techniques in particular have been able to observe what exactly is happening in the brain while someone is hypnotised

Hypnosis is a state of mind in which a person’s conscious critical thinking mind is bypassed and communication with the subconscious mind is established.

During hypnosis when your mind is relaxed you can focus on what you want to achieve.   about allowing your mind to relax so that you can focus your attention on the particular thing you want to achieve.

You have already experienced trance many times in your life.  Perhaps you’ve gone into trance while sitting in a class, taking a shower, driving on a journey,  watching television or reading a book.  You’ve zoned out, gone into a trance, forgotton your worries and you feel completely calm and peaceful.

My role as a hypnotherapist is to guide you into that restful and relaxing state in a easy and gentle manner.  You will feel deep relaxation of both mind and body.  You will feel pleasant, comfortable sensations that are deeply soothing to every part of your being.  Each persons hypnotic experience is uniquely individual.

In this calm and relaxing state the mind is very receptive to suggestions and this is how behaviour modification can occur.

What is Analytical Hypnotherapy?

What is Hypno-Psychotherapy?

Hypnosis is not a therapy in itself. Rather, a therapy is conducted in hypnosis, which is known as hypnotherapy. Hypnosis is a state of relaxation and concentration at one with the state of heightened awareness induced by suggestion. It is a natural trance state, like daydreaming, when the mind is relaxed and focused, where time passes very quickly, accompanied by good feelings of deep relaxation of mind and body.

Hypnotherapy is a treatment that is based on the premise that the mind and body do not work in isolation. By guiding the person into a hypnotic state, the therapist aims to trigger the body’s mental and physical self-healing processes that lie in the subconscious.

Anybody can be guided into a hypnotic state; it is not a sign of gullibility or suggestibility on the part of the patient. Hypnosis induces a state of relaxation and concentration that practitioners claim is a natural manifestation of the mind at work.

When undergoing hypnotherapy, patients are conscious and aware, but are open to the power of suggestion. They cannot be induced to do anything against their will.
